🌍⛵ A Journey That Changed the World 🌊
On 20 September 1519, five ships sailed from Spain on a journey into the unknown.
Led by Ferdinand Magellan, the expedition set out to find a western route to the Spice Islands, in present-day Indonesia.
What followed was a journey across oceans, through the Strait of Magellan and across the Pacific.
Magellan did not complete the voyage, but the Victoria, under Juan Sebastián Elcano, eventually returned to Spain in 1522.
The expedition completed the first recorded circumnavigation of Earth, marking a landmark moment in the history of exploration. 🌎✨
